Mother's Day: A Second Look

Mother's Day, a day that is used to honor mothers. However we must ensure to honor every type of mother that we have on this Earth. This isn't to diminish the work of the mom who is raising their children as illustrated in Proverbs 31 and many other scriptures in the Bible.

Last year this time, we only have three children living under our roof and one waiting for us in Ghana. Today all four are loving each other and bonding daily under one roof! On today I can't help to think about all the moms who sacrifice so much when they gave their child up for adoption. My mind keeps running back to EJ's first mother, the one who birth him. Not sure if they even celebrate Mother's Day how many do here but my prayer is that she is happy. My prayer is that she knows she made the hardest but best decision for her child. I pray that she knows that she is loved by our family. I hope that she knows that EJ loves her and that we talk about his life in Ghana often.

We don't make too much of mother's day at our house. While it's wonderful to take a day to focus on moms. I feel strongly that we should honor people often and not just on one designated day.

However you are a mom (spiritual, biological, adoptive, 1st mom "birth mom", expectant mom, foster moms, mom's who's babies are already in Heaven)....... Happy Mother's Day!! Know that you are loved greatly.
